In no other situation as in mourning, the pain produced is TOTAL; it is a biological pain (the body hurts), psychological (the personality hurts), social (society and its way of being hurts), family (the pain of others hurts), and spiritual (the soul hurts).

Grief is an emotional reaction to a loss that plays an adaptive role in human beings and can contribute to personal growth. It is one of the most stressful experiences a human being has to face.It is associated, among others, with major health problems such as depression, anxiety, drug and alcohol abuse, heart problems or suicidal ideation.

Grief is a sense of loss that cannot be repaired. It does not always have to be linked to death, but can have different causes: the disappearance of a loved one, the loss of health, the death of a parent or spouse, a divorce or a change of address.

All of them provoke emotions and feelings that have a common basis, but differ in intensity and in the capacity to assume the loss of the loved one. On the other hand, it is a very intimate experience that each person lives in an individual way, even when facing a common bereavement within a family, each member will live it in a different way.

There are relevant mediating factors in the grieving process. These will influence the development of grief, so it will be important to be aware of them. Some of these are the manner of death, the nature of attachment, social support networks and personal resources. One third of consultations in primary care are psychological in origin, and that of these, one quarter are the result of some kind of loss.

It is evident, in this situation, that there is an important need to attend to these people and create a resource for all those who, in the situation of grief, want to share their loss and nourish themselves with advice to guide and orient them on this difficult and long road. So that, in this way, they can have a good resolution and contribute to their personal growth.

There are no recipes to alleviate the pain. But there are some resources that help to live the process consciously and that allow to overcome the different stages, avoiding the appearance of pathological behaviors.
